The Red Hook Central School District is proud to announce Principal Kyle Roddey has earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University. Dr. Roddey successfully defended his dissertation, titled “Faculty and Administrator Perceptions of the Implementation of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in Relation to Rogers’ Theory of Diffusion of Innovation.”This achievement marks a significant milestone in Dr. Roddey’s career as an educator and leader. His research explored how innovative academic programs, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB), are perceived and adopted within school communities, offering timely insights into educational change and program implementation.

Before joining Red Hook, Dr. Roddey served as the mayor of Goshen from 2011-2018. He became the Assistant Principal of Goshen High School in 2018 and went on to serve as the Principal of Fallsburg Junior Senior High School. In February 2023, he took his current position as the principal of Red Hook High School. He began his education career as a social studies teacher in the Enlarged City School District of Middletown.

“I am incredibly grateful for the support of my family, colleagues, and the community throughout this journey,” Dr. Roddey said.

Red Hook Superintendent of Schools Dr. Janet Warden stated, “This achievement is a testament to Dr. Roddey's hard work and passion for education. We are truly proud to celebrate this moment with him.”

Since coming to Red Hook, Dr. Roddey has worked to expand educational opportunities for all students, including by implementing the International Baccalaureate English for All program, which provides all 11th and 12th graders with IB instruction and the opportunity to earn college credit. This past fall, Dr. Roddey earned a Vision of Hope Award from Access: Supports for Living, in recognition of his contributions beginning the organization’s mental health program that is now utilized throughout the mid-Hudson Valley.

Dr. Roddey looks forward to bringing his new training and expertise in research to his current role as he continues to build on Red Hook’s success.
