Learn Ways to Be Calm, Cool, & Collected

Being a teen can be really stressful! Mindfulness is a powerful way to handle stress, and live life more fully. Mindfulness is all about living fully in the present moment, without judgment, and with an attitude of kindness and curiosity. It’s about breathing, noticing what’s happening right here and now, sending a gentle smile to whatever you’re experiencing in this moment (whether it’s easy or difficult), and then letting it go. You can be mindful anytime, anywhere, no matter what you’re doing.

How do you meditate?

If you've ever wanted to learn how to meditate, but didn't know where to start, this is the video for you.

Why meditation is like riding a bike

Meditation doesn't just take practice, it *is* practice. You have to get used to gently letting go of the thoughts and feelings that occur in the mind. But, just like riding a bike, the more you do it, the easier it feels.

Why focus on the happiness of others?

Have you ever wondered why, when we chase after happiness, it can seem very elusive? Meditation is about so much more than sitting with our eyes closed. In fact, it helps us create space in our minds, and our lives, for the happiness of others. And funnily enough, when we do that, we may even find that we're more present, and happier, ourselves.

Changing your perspective

Learning how to meditate means accepting that our minds won’t go quiet the moment we sit and close our eyes. So if we can’t just clear the mind on-demand, how are we ever going to relax? In this animation the practice of meditation is like sitting by the side of a road, with instructions to watch the traffic. How do we stop ourselves getting caught up with the thoughts? It’s a question of perspective.
